The Story of SnuggL'Up America

Founder and Executive Director Sharon Gothard Weisman gave birth to her first son in 1991. After enduring bouts of severe colic, difficulty sleeping, and what seemed like constant fidgeting, Sharon's child had classic symptoms of hyperactivity. Over the years, Sharon became both frustrated and exhausted.

Late in the summer of 2001, while Sharon and her son were watching a video, he began rubbing the pant leg of an old pair of maternity shorts Sharon was wearing. He kept saying the material "felt good."

Kiddingly she said to him, "What do you want me to do, cut my shorts and make you a pillow?"

He said "Yep."

And so she did.

The next day her favorite pair of shorts became a hand sewn "SnuggL'Up", and for the first time in almost nine years, her son fell asleep by himself and slept through the night.

And so, the original SnuggL'Up pillow was born.

What started as a simple act of a mother's love for her child has evolved into SnuggL'Up America, a 501c3, non-profit organization. Through its five core programs, SnuggL'Up America is dedicated to spreading comfort, security, literacy and love to children and adults of all ages.
